Chinese EV brand Leapmotor has unveiled its latest model, the B05 electric hatchback, at the Munich motor show. Positioned as a rival to the MG 4 and BYD Dolphin, the Corolla-sized EV will arrive in Australia in mid-2026.
The B05 joins Leapmotor’s growing B-Series (small car) line-up, which already includes the B10 small SUV and B01 compact sedan in overseas markets.

Sporty design with European focus
The B05 carries a sleek five-door hatchback profile, echoing the design language of the larger B10 and C10 SUVs but with a lower stance and coupe-inspired roofline. Sporty cues such as frameless door glass and 19-inch alloy wheels give the hatchback a performance-oriented edge.
Leapmotor has positioned the B05 primarily for European markets, where hatchbacks remain popular despite the dominance of SUVs. Reflecting that focus, production will take place in Spain – making the B05 the company’s second vehicle to be manufactured outside China.

Power, range, and dimensions
Built on Leapmotor’s in-house LEAP 3.5 platform, the B05 features an 800-volt system with a rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive layout.
It will launch with a 160 kW electric motor, paired with either a 52.6 kWh or 67.1 kWh battery pack, delivering ranges of 361 km and 434 km respectively (lab-tested figures).
In terms of size, the B05 sits at the larger end of the small hatchback (C-segment) class, measuring 4,430 mm in length with a 2,735 mm wheelbase. That makes it longer and wider than the MG 4, and almost as roomy as a Honda Civic.
