2026 BYD Atto 3 front

The BYD Atto 3, Australia's second best selling electric SUV, is set to receive a subtle refresh. Launching in Australia in late 2022, the Atto 3 is getting its first exterior refresh, likely in 2026. The 2025 BYD Atto 3 did not receive any physical changes, however a more affordable "Essential" trim was introduced, starting at $39,990 before on-road costs.

Images released by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal the 2026 Atto 3 facelift. The exterior retains the familiar LED headlights and metal grille, but the front bumper now sports a more aggressive design. The rear also receives minor tweaks with a redesigned bumper that echoes the front's styling.

The LED taillights, while carried over, feature a revised LED tube design, similar to the Dolphin facelift. The tailgate-mounted spoiler now incorporates a new dual-light third brake light.

Side profile changes are minimal, with some faux metal accents on the C-pillar replaced by blacked-out trim pieces. New alloy wheels with an improved aerodynamic design are also introduced.

Powertrain options are expected to remain unchanged, with the single front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque. This is paired with either a 49.92 kWh (Essential) or 60.48 kWh (Premium) Blade battery, offering WLTP range of up to 350 km and 420 km, respectively.

Given historical timelines between government document submissions and model releases in Australia, expect the updated Atto 3 to be released later this year or in 2026.

What previous changes has the BYD Atto 3 received?

The only visual changes the BYD Atto 3 have received since launching in 2022 came in 2024, when it received the following updates:

  • Introduction of a newly designed 'Dragon Scale' D-pillar.
  • 15.6-inch infotainment display, up from the previous model's 12.8-inch screen.
  • New black-blue color scheme
