A key addition is LiDAR technology, supplied by BYD-backed Robosense. This is expected to enhance the Seal's advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) which is viewed as a weak point of the car compared to its main rival, the Tesla Model 3.

In terms of exterior updates, the 2025 Seal EV will sport a new "Sky Purple" exterior color option. Furthermore, BYD has replaced the previous "Build Your Dreams" badge with a bold red "BYD" logo at the rear, giving the vehicle a more streamlined appearance.

The 2025 BYD Seal has received a substantial cabin uplift which gives it a more up market feel. The steering wheel now has a four spoke design (compared to three in the 2024 Seal).

Buttons on the steering wheel and around the gear shifter now sport a satin finish as opposed to the gloss black previously.

The dashboard appears to now be one large screen incorporating the instrument cluster on the drivers side and a digital screen featuring a wave pattern for the passenger.

2025 BYD Seal Specifications

The 2025 Seal's dimensions will remain the same, measuring 4,800mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,460mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,920mm.

Powertrain options will also remain the same:

  • The base model rear-wheel drive model, "Dynamic", will produce 170kW of power.
  • The more powerful "Premium" boosts power to 230kW from a single rear motor.
  • The powerful "Performance" feature all-wheel drive with a combined power output of 390kW.

Battery capacity remains unchanged with two options: 61.44kWh and 80.64kWh, delivering estimated ranges of 510km to 650km respectively under the CLTC standard or 460km to 520km under the WLTP standard.

The Seal is built on BYD's advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, which supports high-voltage 800-volt charging for faster replenishment.
