Key Points

  • Xpeng revealed the Mona L03 fastback SUV, the second model in its mass-market Mona series, ahead of a July 2026 debut in China.
  • The L03 offers both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) powertrain variants, a first for the Mona line.
  • Australian launch timing has not been confirmed, though Xpeng is preparing the G7 electric SUV for local release in 2026.

Xpeng has officially revealed the Mona L03 fastback SUV in China ahead of its debut scheduled for July 2026. It is the second model in the Xpeng Mona mass-market lineup, following the Mona M03 liftback that launched in August 2024.

The L03 is the first SUV to wear the Mona badge and the first model in the series to offer both BEV and EREV powertrain options. Xpeng has positioned it as a youth-focused vehicle, describing it as "young people's first smart and stylish SUV".

An Australian launch has not been confirmed. For local context, Xpeng is preparing the G7 electric SUV for an Australian launch in 2026 to rival the Tesla Model Y.

Design and dimensions

The Mona L03 is a compact fastback SUV with dimensions of 4650 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1600 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2850 mm. Some homologation versions list length at 4672 mm depending on trim.

The design language follows the Mona M03 liftback with T-shaped headlights and a sloped bonnet line. New elements include practical semi-hidden door handles, a single taillight strip, an active front air intake, and vivid brake calipers. The L03 rides on R18 or R20 wheels depending on the trim level.

Xpeng has shown the car in colours including Eucalyptus Grey, Midnight Black, and Crescent Silver as part of its pre-launch campaign in China. The company says the Mona naming structure uses M for sedans and L for SUVs, with the two letters forming part of the "Mona Lisa" name.

Pricing and positioning

The model is expected to target a lower price point around 150,000 yuan (approx. $32,000 AUD) in China.

For context, the Mona M03 launched in August 2024 with a price range of 119,800 to 151,800 yuan (17,680 to 22,410 USD). It became Xpeng's best-selling vehicle, recording 175,689 deliveries in 2025 alone, accounting for 40.91 per cent of Xpeng's total deliveries that year. According to China EV DataTracker, Xpeng delivered 272,077 units of the M03 from August 2024 to May 2026.

If launched in Australia expect to pay at least a 40% premium to China market pricing. Expect pricing in Australia to be between $45,000 to $50,000. This would position it alongside the Geely EX5 which starts at $41,990.

Australian prospects

An Australian launch for the Mona L03 has not been confirmed. The Mona M03 liftback was confirmed as a global model that will also sell in foreign markets, so there is a reasonable chance the L03 fastback SUV could follow.

Xpeng is already preparing the G7 electric SUV for an Australian launch in 2026, which will compete with the Tesla Model Y. Whether the Mona L03 joins the local lineup remains unclear.
