
Volkswagen Australia has officially opened registrations of interest for its highly anticipated all-new ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles. These models, including the performance-oriented GTX variants, are set to make their Australian debt in December 2024.
The new ID.4 and ID.5 share a range of upgrades compared to previous version, including:
- Improved Infotainment System: A12.9-inch touchscreen with a new menu structure and touch sliders for climate control and volume.
- Enhanced Voice Assistant: The new IDA voice assistant offers precise natural language commands for easy operation.
- Increased Range: A larger 82kWh (gross) / 77kWh (net) battery provides a longer driving range.
- Powerful Electric Motors: Rear-wheel-drive models feature a 210kW electric motor, while the GTX models offer a combined system power of 250kW.
- Rapid Charging: DC charging capabilities of up to 175kW DC allow for quick charging times.
- Refined Chassis: A reconfigured running gear and adaptive chassis control provide a more comfortable and dynamic driving experience.
Volkswagen ID.4
The ID.4 is a medium sized electric SUV which will compete with the Tesla Model Y. In terms of size its between between the Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg.

The ID.4 Pro will be the first trim to launch. It will features a single rear electric motor with power of 210kW and torque of 545Nm. It has a claimed WLTP claimed driving range of 544km.

Volkswagen ID.5
The ID.5 is a coupe version of the ID.5 and shares similar dimensions. The ID.5 GTX will the first trim to launch. It will features an all wheel drive setup with combined power of 250kW and torque of 679Nm. It has a claimed WLTP claimed driving range of 544km.
