Comments

Tesla’s 2025 sales performance in Australia has had a rocky start, but the EV giant isn’t resting on its laurels. The Incentives On Offer

Tesla is offering some seriously tempting extras for buyers of select inventory vehicles, as detailed below:

  • Free Universal Mobile Connector Charger: This essential accessory, valued at $550, will now be included at no extra cost with the purchase of a new Model 3 or Model Y Long Range SUV. Tesla used to include the mobile connector as complimentary with Tesla purchases however it was removed in 2023.
  • 5,000 km of Free Supercharging: In addition to the charger, you’ll also get a supercharging credit worth over $250. That’s a significant amount of free charging if you plan to hit the road for long trips or frequent commutes.

Eligibility and Terms

Before you rush to the dealership, there are a few important terms and conditions to keep in mind:

  1. Delivery Deadline: You’ll need to take delivery of your new Tesla by March 31, 2025 to qualify for these incentives.
  2. Supercharging Credit: The free supercharging credit is valid for 24 months from the delivery date. Be aware that these credits are non-transferable, so you can’t pass them on to anyone else during the two-year window.
  3. Private Use Only: These incentives apply to vehicles used for private use only. If you’re considering using your Tesla for commercial purposes, this deal won’t apply.

Why Is Tesla Doing This?

Tesla’s decision to roll out these incentives comes amid a noticeable slowdown in their sales for 2025. To put it into perspective, in the first two months of this year, Tesla sold only 2,331 vehicles in Australia.

In comparison, during the same period last year, Tesla had 6,772 sales, with the bulk of those being the Model 3. While some of the decline can be attributed to inventory issues and the anticipation of the new Model Y, there’s also the larger trend in the EV market to consider.

A Tough Year for EVs Across the Board

It’s not just Tesla feeling the pinch. Other automakers like BYD are also grappling with similar challenges. Their Seal sedan, which was a major success in 2024, has seen sales plummet in 2025, averaging only 54 units per month so far. This highlights the broader issue of declining interest in electric sedans, which is complicating the outlook for EVs in the Australian market this year.

Tesla’s Strategy

In response, Tesla has launched these incentives as part of a broader strategy to clear its inventory ahead of the launch of the new Model Y—a move that could help boost sales and spark renewed interest in the brand. The latest incentives are especially targeted at inventory vehicles, which need to be moved before the refreshed Model Y hits showrooms. Tesla hopes these extra perks will entice buyers who might be on the fence about making the leap to an electric vehicle.

Will these incentives be enough to reignite consumer interest in EVs and Tesla specifically? It’s still too early to tell. However, with EV adoption on the rise and new incentives offering more value than ever before, Tesla’s strategy could be a key move in the race to boost sales in 2025..
