Tesla Model Y Long Range Now Offers 600 km of Driving Range in Australia

Comments

Tesla has quietly updated the specs of the Model Y Long Range variant in Australia, giving the popular electric SUV a significant range boost. The latest version now delivers 600 km of WLTP-rated driving range, up from the previous 551 km, marking the first time a Model Y in the country has officially reached this milestone.

This update was first noticed on Tesla’s local configurator and later confirmed by the Tesla Owners Club Western Australia. It mirrors a similar update seen earlier this month in China, suggesting a possible battery upgrade behind the scenes.

600 km Milestone Could Ease Range Anxiety

The increase in range is expected to attract more buyers who may have held back due to concerns about driving distance. Combined with Tesla’s expanding Supercharger network across Australia, the new figure could position the Model Y Long Range as a more practical solution for regional travel and long-distance driving.

In addition to the range update, Tesla has added a new exterior colour (Diamond Black) to the configurator. The colour is now available for both the Model Y and Model 3, bringing the total number of available paint finishes to six for certain variants.

For Model Y, Diamond Black is available across all versions. For Model 3, it is only available on the base Rear-Wheel Drive model.

Diamond Black Model Y (all) / Model 3 (RWD only) $1,500
Launch Timing Previously in US/China; now in AU/NZ July 2025

Extra Incentives Also on Offer

Tesla is also offering a $2,000 discount for customers who trade in an existing vehicle when buying a new or demo Model Y. This incentive is valid through to 30 September 2025, and is part of the company’s broader efforts to boost deliveries this quarter.

These combined upgrades—the extended range, the new colour option, and added incentives, come as Tesla looks to maintain momentum in an increasingly competitive EV market. With 600 km of range now on offer and support from a growing Supercharger network, the Model Y is positioned as one of the most capable electric SUVs currently available in Australia.
