Key Points

  • Suzuki's first electric vehicle arrives in Australia from June 2026 with two variants: Motion (49kWh, 344km range) and Ultra (61kWh, 395km range).
  • Ultra variant features ALLGRIP-e electric 4WD system.
  • Heat pump standard across all models, DC fast charging to 80% in 45 minutes, and comprehensive safety suite.

Suzuki has confirmed its first electric vehicle for Australia, with the e VITARA set to arrive in local showrooms from June 2026. The e VITARA will be available in two variants: Motion and Ultra. Both models are built on the new HEARTECT-e platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles.

The compact SUV marks a significant shift for the Japanese manufacturer, known globally for lightweight vehicles like the Jimny and Swift, as it enters the EV market for the first time.

Two variants will be offered locally: the entry-level Motion and range-topping Ultra. Both ride on Suzuki’s new HEARTECT-e platform, an architecture engineered exclusively for electric powertrains.

The e VITARA will compete in a rapidly growing segment of the Australian EV market against the BYD Atto 2 (from $31,990+), Jaecoo J5 BEV ($36,990 drive-away) and Kia EV3 (from $47,600).

Powertrain and Battery

The e VITARA is built on the the HEARTECT-e platform, a dedicated battery-electric architecture designed to maximise interior space, structural rigidity, and efficiency.

The e VITARA uses a lithium iron-phosphate (LFP) battery system known for durability and thermal stability. Two battery configurations are available: 49kWh in the Motion and 61kWh in the Ultra.

The Motion variant features a 106kW motor producing 193Nm of torque, delivering a driving range of 344km. The Ultra variant offers 135kW combined power and 307Nm of torque, with a range of 395km.

Both variants use a single-speed electric drive transmission for smooth, seamless acceleration. A heat pump is standard across the range, managing battery thermal performance in varying temperatures.

Charging and Range

The e VITARA supports both AC and DC charging. The charging port is located on the passenger side front wing.

DC rapid charging delivers 10 to 80 percent charge in 45 minutes. An 11kW AC 3-phase charger takes 5.5 hours for a full charge from 10 to 100 percent. A 7kW AC single-phase charger requires 9 hours for the same charge.

The standard heat pump improves efficiency in varying temperatures. It optimises battery performance and charging speed across different climate conditions.
