Key Points
- Subaru's fastest production car ever with 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds
- Second electric Subaru in Australia, joining the updated 2026 Solterra
- 280 kW power, 533 km range, 211mm ground clearance, and 1,500 kg towing capacity
Subaru has confirmed the all-electric Trailseeker SUV will arrive in Australia during Q2 2026. The Trailseeker becomes the second electric Subaru available locally, joining the recently updated 2026 Solterra. With 280 kW of power and a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 4.4 seconds, the Trailseeker will be the fastest production Subaru ever made.

Record Performance
The Trailseeker delivers 280 kW from its dual-motor setup. This makes it the most powerful production Subaru to date.
The 0-100 km/h sprint takes approximately 4.4 seconds. This makes the Trailseeker the fastest accelerating production Subaru ever built. The previous record holder was the WRX STI, which managed the sprint in around 5 seconds.
Power goes to all four wheels through Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. The dual-motor configuration places one motor on each axle for optimal traction and control.
Off-road Capability
Ground clearance measures 211mm. This puts the Trailseeker in genuine all-terrain territory, matching or exceeding many traditional SUVs.
The low centre of gravity from the floor-mounted battery pack combines with the high ground clearance. This gives the Trailseeker stable handling on sealed roads and confidence on unsealed surfaces.

Platform and Battery
The Trailseeker sits on Subaru's e-Subaru Global Platform. This dedicated electric architecture was developed specifically for battery electric vehicles.
A 74.7 kWh CATL battery pack provides the energy. This delivers a claimed driving range of 533 km on a single charge.
The battery is mounted low in the chassis. This keeps the centre of gravity low for better handling and stability.
Subaru's First In-House EV
The Trailseeker marks a significant milestone for Subaru. It's the brand's first EV built at its own facility in Japan.
Production line upgrades began in August 2025. Subaru completed its first in-house EV this week at the facility.
This differs from the Solterra. The Solterra is built at a Toyota-owned facility. The Trailseeker is produced at Subaru's own plant.
Toyota still plays a role in the project. The electric SUV is co-developed with Toyota. It uses a modified version of Toyota's e-TNGA platform.
The Trailseeker is bigger and more powerful than the Solterra. The Trailseeker measures 4,841 mm long and 1,674 mm tall. This makes it approximately 150 mm longer and 25 mm taller than the Solterra.

Charging and Practicality
DC fast charging peaks at 150 kW. This allows a 10-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes at compatible charging stations.
AC charging supports up to 22 kW on three-phase power. This makes overnight charging at home straightforward for those with three-phase connections.
Vehicle-to-Load capability provides 1,500 W of power. This lets you run camping equipment, power tools, or emergency appliances directly from the vehicle.
Braked towing capacity is rated at 1,500 kg. This matches many mid-size SUVs and covers most recreational towing needs.
What Makes It Subaru
Scott Lawrence, Managing Director of Subaru Australia, described the Trailseeker as "the EV with personality."
"This is not just another electric SUV. The Trailseeker brings genuine Subaru DNA to the electric space. You get the performance, the capability, and the confidence that Subaru owners expect. But now with zero emissions and instant torque from the electric motors."
The Symmetrical AWD system remains a core part of the package. Subaru has adapted this technology for electric powertrains while maintaining the balanced, predictable handling the brand is known for.

Availability
The Subaru Trailseeker will launch in Australia during Q2 2026. This means arrivals between April and June next year.
Customers can register their interest at www.subaru.com.au/trailseeker/2026. Pricing and full specifications will be announced closer to the launch date.
Subaru Australia expects strong demand given the combination of performance, capability, and the Trailseeker's position as the brand's flagship electric model.
The Trailseeker expands Subaru's electric lineup alongside the Solterra. It offers a larger, more performance-focused option for Australian customers who want Subaru's all-terrain capability in an electric package. With 280 kW, 533 km of range, and genuine off-road credentials, the Trailseeker positions Subaru as a serious player in the premium electric SUV segment.
