Nissan ARIYA Undercuts Toyota BZ4X & Subaru Solterra with 504km Range, 22kW Charging, 10 Year Warranty
The fully electric Nissan ARIYA has officially launched in Australia with aggressive pricing that significantly undercuts Japanese electric vehicle rivals while offering superior warranty coverage and a valuable launch promotion.

Starting at $60,577 (including onroads in NSW), the ARIYA challenges the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra with better range figures and substantially enhanced warranty protection.
The standout launch offer includes a complimentary three-phase 22kW onboard charger upgrade valued at A$3,000 on Engage, Advance, and Advance+ variants, plus a free 22kW Autel Maxicharger home unit worth A$1,479.
This charging package provides exceptional value for three-phase households, particularly those participating in Virtual Power Plant programs where rapid charging enables optimal energy management.
Nissan's comprehensive 10-year, 300,000km warranty when serviced through authorised dealers exceeds the standard five-year coverage offered by Toyota and Subaru on their respective bZ4X and Solterra models.
The ARIYA's maximum 504km WLTP range also surpasses both rivals, addressing range anxiety concerns for Australian buyers.
"It's exciting to see Nissan's long history in the Australian electric vehicle space continue in the ARIYA, which pairs incredible design, a clever and spacious interior, intelligent driving systems with advanced battery and motor technology to deliver a truly thrilling drive," commented Warwick Daly, Deputy Director Marketing & Mobility at Nissan Australia.

Pricing and Range Advantage
Including onroad costs and excluding optional extras in NSW, the ARIYA lineup spans from the entry-level Engage at $60,577 to the flagship e-4ORCE Evolve at $77,377.
The standout value proposition comes from the Advance+ variant, priced at $68,977 incl onroads in NSW, which offers 504km of WLTP-rated range from its 87kWh battery pack.
This positioning places the ARIYA competitively against Japanese rivals including the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra, while offering substantially more driving range.
The extended range capability addresses one of the primary concerns Australian buyers have expressed about electric vehicle ownership, particularly for highway driving between cities.

Technical Specifications and Key Features
Battery Technology The ARIYA offers 63kWh and 87kWh liquid-cooled battery packs with active thermal management. The flat battery design contributes to a completely flat floor interior and enhanced structural rigidity through an integrated cross-member design.
Charging Infrastructure DC fast charging reaches 130kW maximum power, delivering 10-80% charge in 35-40 minutes depending on battery size.
Smart Grid Integration Benefits The 22kW AC charging capability proves particularly valuable for households with three-phase power supplies participating in Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs such as Amber Electric or OVO Energy's The Free 3 plan.
This charging rate enables the ARIYA's battery to be mostly refilled within approximately three hours, maximising opportunities for grid integration and energy arbitrage.
Performance Specifications Entry-level variants deliver 160kW power and 300Nm torque, with 0-100km/h acceleration in 8.0 seconds.
The Advance+ increases output to 178kW while maintaining front-wheel drive configuration.
The flagship Evolve employs dual 160kW motors producing 600Nm combined torque and achieving 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds.
e-4ORCE Technology Nissan's dual-motor all-wheel drive system, exclusive to the Evolve, provides near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution and individual wheel control.
The system offers four driving modes including a dedicated Snow mode for enhanced traction in adverse conditions.

Interior Design and Technology
The ARIYA's cabin features a minimalist Japanese-inspired design philosophy called "Timeless Japanese Futurism". The interior incorporates traditional Kumiko patterns into door inserts and dashboard elements, complemented by "Andon" ambient lighting inspired by Japanese lanterns.
Infotainment and Controls Dual 12.3-inch TFT displays dominate the dashboard, featuring integrated navigation and wireless smartphone connectivity.
The vehicle employs haptic touch controls that illuminate when active and provide tactile feedback, seamlessly integrated into wood-grain dashboard trim.
Interior Flexibility Advanced variants feature a power-sliding centre console that adjusts fore and aft to personalise cabin space. The completely flat floor design, enabled by the integrated battery pack, creates a lounge-like interior atmosphere with up to 1,350 litres of cargo capacity when rear seats fold flat.
Material Quality Trim levels progress from black cloth through synthetic leather combinations to full blue Nappa leather on the flagship Evolve.
Higher specifications include heated and ventilated front seats, with memory functions for seat positions, mirrors, and steering wheel adjustment.

Advanced Safety Systems
ProPILOT Technology Standard across all variants, Nissan's ProPILOT system provides lane-keeping assistance and intelligent cruise control functionality. The system maintains lane position through gentle curves while managing acceleration and braking in traffic conditions.
Collision Prevention Intelligent Emergency Braking includes pedestrian and cyclist detection, while Junction Assist technology improves intersection safety. The system monitors for vehicles two cars ahead to prevent multi-vehicle accidents through predictive warnings.
Parking and Manoeuvring Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection provides 360-degree visibility for parking manoeuvres. The system detects moving objects around the vehicle and displays warnings to the driver through the central display.

Dimension and Practicality
The ARIYA measures 4,595mm in length with a 2,775mm wheelbase, positioning it competitively within the medium SUV segment.
Ground clearance ranges from 180-182mm depending on variant, while the turning circle remains a manageable 12 metres for urban driving.
Cargo capacity reaches 466 litres with rear seats upright on two-wheel drive variants, expanding to 1,350 litres when folded.
The e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system slightly reduces cargo volume to 408/1,280 litres respectively due to additional drivetrain components.
Maximum braked towing capacity spans 750kg for front-wheel drive models and 1,500kg for the e-4ORCE variant, enabling recreational towing for boats, trailers, and caravans within reasonable limits.

Warranty and Service Support
Nissan's comprehensive warranty package sets the ARIYA apart from competitors in the Australian market. The company offers a 10-year, 300,000km warranty when serviced through authorised dealers, significantly exceeding industry standards.
The lithium-ion battery receives additional coverage with a dedicated capacity warranty lasting 96 months or 160,000km.
This protection guards against excessive battery degradation, addressing long-term ownership concerns that have historically affected EV resale values.
Nissan has established a specialised Battery Electric Vehicle dealer network spanning over 90 outlets nationwide, with expansion plans for additional locations.
These dealers receive specific EV training and maintain charging infrastructure to support customer needs.
"Nissan customers expect, and receive, the highest levels of service and support from our experienced dealership network, and while ARIYA might be an entirely new offering for Australia, our commitment to our customers doesn't change," noted Ben Hamilton, Director Sales & Dealer Network Development at Nissan Oceania.

Market Context
The ARIYA enters a rapidly expanding Australian EV market where range anxiety and charging infrastructure remain primary consumer concerns.
Its 504km maximum range positions it favourably against current Japanese EV offerings.
Nissan's established dealer network provides confidence for buyers hesitant about EV ownership.
The vehicle's dimensions of 4595mm length and 2775mm wheelbase place it squarely in the medium SUV segment, appealing to families seeking practical electric transport.
The flat floor design, enabled by the integrated battery pack, maximises interior space despite the relatively compact external footprint.
Manufacturing takes place at Nissan's Tochigi Plant in Japan, with the first Australian-bound vehicles having departed in August.
This timing aligns with the September launch window and ensures dealer stock availability from day one.
The ARIYA's arrival reinforces Nissan's commitment to electrification in Australia, building on lessons learned from the LEAF program while incorporating advanced technologies developed for global markets.
With competitive pricing, superior range, and comprehensive warranty coverage, the ARIYA presents a compelling proposition for Australian EV buyers.
