Nio Firefly Unveils “Night Creature” Special Edition, Limited to 666 Units

Chinese EV maker Nio has introduced a striking new version of its compact Firefly EV, called the Night Creature Special Edition. Limited to just 666 units, the new variant brings a bold visual upgrade and enhanced driving dynamics to the brand’s entry-level electric hatchback.

The Night Creature builds on the standard Firefly EV, which has already been approved for sale in Australia. While the base model focuses on affordability and urban practicality, this edition leans toward exclusivity and driver engagement.

Starting at RMB 136,800 (around A$19,170) in China, the special edition costs slightly more than the existing Nomadic Maillard version. Under Nio’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, the price drops to RMB 96,800, paired with a monthly rental fee.

Distinctive Styling and Performance Tweaks

What sets the Night Creature apart is its darker, performance-inspired theme.

• Exclusive black paint finish with white decals and white alloy wheels
• A g-force handling kit featuring red high-stiffness springs for sharper cornering
• A unique illuminated NFC key card that lights up when unlocking the car

The mechanical setup remains based on the standard Firefly, with a compact footprint, rear-wheel drive, and a 42.1 kWh LFP battery offering around 340 km of WLTP range. However, the upgraded suspension promises a more responsive and connected driving experience.

Production and Delivery

Deliveries of the Night Creature Special Edition are set to begin in China on October 23, with no official word yet on whether this trim will be offered internationally.
