Skoda's best-selling model in Australia, the Kodiaq, is getting electrified (at least partially). The Kodiaq will now feature a plug-in-hybrid option, the Kodiaq Select plug in hybrid electric vehicle, or PHEV. It will sit between the Kodiaq Sportline and the recently released Kodiaq RS and be available in early 2026 This version focuses on comfort, unlike the more sports oriented SUVs.
The Kodiaq PHEV will join an increasingly competitive PHEV medium SUV segment which features the BYD Sealion 6, Mitsubishi Outlander and Leapmotor C10 REEV.
Power and Performance
The Kodiaq Select PHEV uses a 1.5 litre petrol engine and an electric motor. Together, they make 150kW of power and 350Nm of torque. It can go from 0 to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds.

The car offers an electric driving range of up to 112km on the WLTP cycle. It charges with 11kW AC and 50kW DC, giving you good charging options on the road. It also uses very little fuel, just 1.85 litres per 100 kilometres.
Drivers can pick between electric only mode or hybrid drive on the car's screen. You can also choose how much the car recharges its battery when braking. There are two ways to manage battery charging. Automatic mode can use the engine to recharge the battery similar to range extended EVs like the Leapmotor C10 REEV. Manual mode waits for you to plug in the car to recharge the battery.
This plug in Kodiaq has five seats and a large class-leading 745 litre boot space.
Comfort and Safety Features
The Kodiaq Select PHEV comes with many standard features. These include 19 inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, heated and power folding side mirrors, and a power adjustable driver's seat. It also has heated front seats and three zone climate control. The infotainment system is 13 inches with DAB+ radio and navigation. You get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with two wireless chargers that offer 15W and active ventilation. There are also five USB C ports, including one near the rear view mirror.
For safety, the Kodiaq Select PHEV includes adaptive cruise control with travel assist and traffic jam assist. It also has side assist, lane assist with adaptive lane guidance, turn assist, and front assist. Emergency assist, traffic sign recognition, and nine airbags are also standard.
Optional Luxury: The Signature Package
The Launch Edition of the Kodiaq is no longer being made. Now, a new Select with Signature Package will be available for both the 2.0 TSI and PHEV models.
The Signature Package adds several upgrades. These include eight way massage front seats, a power adjustable passenger seat with lumbar support and memory, and intelligent park assist. You also get surround area view, matrix LED headlights with dynamic light assist, and an illuminated front grille. Other features are a virtual pedal for hands free tailgate opening, a heated steering wheel, heated outer rear seats, a head up display, and rear dynamic indicators.
Aline Carrullo, Skoda product manager, said the Kodiaq Select PHEV makes a leading large SUV more efficient, high tech, and appealing.
Ms Carrullo explained that for customers wanting the newest technology, the Kodiaq Select's plug in hybrid system offers over 100km of electric range. It also provides the flexibility of both AC and DC charging.
She added that the Kodiaq Select PHEV fits well between the Kodiaq Sportline and Kodiaq RS. It focuses on style, technology, and premium features.

Impact on the Australian Market
The arrival of the Skoda Kodiaq Select PHEV in early 2026 will give Australian buyers another option in the growing plug in hybrid SUV market. With its long electric range and flexible charging, it aims to meet demand for more efficient family vehicles. This model could appeal to those who want to reduce fuel use but are not ready for a fully electric car. It also offers a blend of comfort and technology that may attract new customers to the Skoda brand.
zecar's take
The Kodiaq Select PHEV looks like a good addition to Skoda's lineup. The 112km electric range is above average electric range for a PHEV. The ability to recharge the battery using 'automatic' mode is a useful feature, especially on longer trips where charging stations might be scarce. The safety and tech features are impressive, but the real test will be how it's priced against competitors. The Signature Package adds luxury, but customers will need to decide if those extras are worth the cost. It's a smart move for Skoda to offer a comfort focused PHEV alongside its sportier models.
