Hyundai Motor Company Australia has introduced a comprehensive 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty across its entire passenger vehicle range, marking a significant enhancement to the brand's value proposition.

The extended coverage is backdated to June 1, 2025 and applies to all* new Hyundai passenger vehicles, including SUVs across petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains such as the new Inster, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kona EV.

Zecar writer Neerav Bhatt predicted this warranty extension in mid-2025, highlighting the competitive pressure facing Hyundai in the Australian market. The move positions Hyundai as offering one of the most comprehensive warranty packages available to Australian consumers.
How the Extended Warranty Works
The warranty extension builds upon Hyundai's existing 5-year unlimited kilometre standard coverage, with the additional two years activated when owners maintain their vehicles exclusively within the authorised Hyundai dealer network.
This service requirement begins from the first scheduled service and must continue throughout the warranty period to maintain eligibility.
- Comprehensive Coverage: The 7-year warranty encompasses critical vehicle components including corrosion protection, paint durability and multimedia systems, areas where some competitor offerings may have exclusions.
- Backdated Benefits: Customers who purchased new Hyundai vehicles registered from 1 June 2025 are eligible for the extended warranty, providing retrospective value for recent buyers.
- Service Integration: The extended warranty ties directly to Hyundai's dealer network servicing, with each scheduled service required to be completed at authorised facilities according to manufacturer specifications.
- Connected Services Extension: Eligible vehicles meeting the dealer servicing requirements also receive extended Bluelink subscription services for the full 7-year period.
- Lifetime Roadside Support: The 24/7 Australia-wide Premium Roadside Support Plan continues for the vehicle's lifetime when owners maintain Hyundai network servicing.
Don Romano, Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor Company Australia, commented: "As the first automotive brand in Australia to offer a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty, we recognise the strategic importance of competitive warranty coverage."

Digital Service Platform Rebranded
The announcement coincides with the launch of myHyundaiCare, replacing the existing iCare program with enhanced digital integration and personalised service experiences. The rebranded service platform allows customers to quote and book services online instantly while maintaining Hyundai's commitment to genuine parts and factory-trained technicians.
Exclusions and Specific EV Coverage
Commercial vehicle exclusions apply to the extended warranty, with the STARIA LOAD and vehicles used for commercial applications including taxi, hire car, ride-share, rental, courier, delivery and emergency services maintaining existing 5-year coverage terms.
These commercial applications are subject to kilometre limitations ranging from 130,000km to 160,000km depending on vehicle classification.
Romano remarked: "Over the past few months, we have worked closely with our National Dealer Council to develop a compelling and highly attractive warranty package that provides further peace of mind for our owners."
Electric vehicle high-voltage batteries retain their existing 8-year or 160,000km warranty coverage, whichever occurs first. Customers choosing to service outside the Hyundai dealer network maintain access to the standard 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty without the extended benefits.

The warranty enhancement reflects Hyundai's confidence in vehicle reliability while providing a competitive advantage in the Australian automotive market. The program launches as vehicle ownership costs continue to be a primary consideration for Australian consumers making purchasing decisions.
