Geely Auto Australia has confirmed the all-electric EX2 hatchback will join its local lineup in the second half of 2026. The compact city car marks Geely's entry into the budget EV segment.
China's Bestselling Vehicle
The Geely EX2, sold as the Geome Xingyuan (Star Wish) in China, has become the country's bestselling vehicle in 2025. It moved over 400,000 units in the 12 months since launch, including 50,000 units in September 2025 alone.
These numbers put the small hatchback ahead of every other vehicle in the Chinese market, including petrol cars.
Pricing: China vs Australia
While pricing for the EX2 will be confirmed closer to launch, we can look to China for a gauge of what pricing will be like in Australia.
In China, the Geome Xingyuan starts at ¥68,800 (around $14,500 AUD) and tops out at ¥98,800 (around $20,800 AUD).
If Geely can bring the EX2 to Australia at a similar price point after import costs, taxes, and compliance, it could start around $25,000 to $30,000. This would make it one of the cheapest electric vehicles in Australia.
For comparison, the BYD Atto 1 (known as the BYD Seagull in China) currently sells for $23,990 plus on-road costs in Australia. In China, the Seagull costs ¥69,800 (around $14,700 AUD) up to ¥85,800 (around $18,100 AUD).
Geely EX2 vs BYD Atto 1 Pricing Comparison
Vehicle | China Price (Starting) | China Price (Top) | Expected Australia Price |
Geely EX2 (Geome Xingyuan) | ¥68,800 ($14,500 AUD) | ¥98,800 ($20,800 AUD) | $25,000-$30,000 (est.) |
BYD Atto 1 (BYD Seagull) | ¥69,800 ($14,700 AUD) | ¥85,800 ($18,100 AUD) | From $23,990 |
Design and Dimensions
The EX2 features a playful 'smile face' front design with clean body lines. Geely offers several pastel exterior colors to appeal to urban buyers.
Despite its compact size, the EX2 measures 4,135mm long, 1,805mm wide, and 1,580mm tall. The 2,650mm wheelbase helps maximize interior space.

Interior Space and Storage
Geely claims the EX2 has over 30 storage compartments throughout the cabin. This includes a front trunk (frunk) under the bonnet, useful for charging cables or small items.
The focus on storage solutions makes sense for a city car where every bit of space counts.
Platform and Technology
The EX2 uses Geely's Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA) platform. This is the same foundation under the larger Geely EX5 EV and the Starray EM-i Super Hybrid.
The platform's modular design allows Geely to build vehicles of different sizes and powertrains from the same base. This helps reduce costs.
Geely describes the EX2's cabin as tech-driven, though specific details about the infotainment system and driver assistance features will be announced closer to launch.
