Chinese automaker Changan’s sub-brand Deepal is expanding its presence in Australia’s EV market in a bold way. The first shipment of its E07 electric SUV-ute hybrid is now heading for local shores, with deliveries expected to begin by late August or early September.
The E07 blends utility and high-performance features in a design that doesn’t quite fit into one category. It’s part SUV, part ute, and part high-tech lounge.

Performance and Powertrain Options
The Deepal E07 will be available in two drivetrain variants, both built on an 800V electrical architecture, allowing ultra-fast charging capabilities.
Variant | Power | Torque | 0–100 km/h | Price (AUD, excl. on-roads) |
Single-motor RWD | 252 kW | 365 Nm | 6.9 sec | $64,900 |
Dual-motor AWD | 440 kW | 645 Nm | 3.9 sec | $73,900 |
Both versions are equipped with a 89.98 kWh NMC battery pack, offering an estimated range of:
- 642 km (NEDC) for the RWD
- 626 km (NEDC) for the AWD
- Real-world WLTP range is expected to exceed 550 km.
Thanks to its 800V system, a 15-minute charge can add up to 350 km of range, making it one of the fastest-charging EVs set to hit the Australian market.

What Comes Next?
According to Deepal Australia’s GM Cormac Cafolla, pre-order holders will receive their vehicles within weeks after the ships arrive. Interest in the E07 has been growing since pre-orders opened earlier this year.
While final WLTP figures and local testing are still to come, the E07 already presents itself as a compelling, feature-rich entrant in a segment that traditionally lacks EV options.
Once on the ground, we’ll be taking the E07 through its paces across Australian roads to see how this electric all-rounder stacks up against its rivals.
