BYD has refreshed its Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid SUV line-up for 2026, bringing back the Dynamic grade and adding a new extended-range version aimed at drivers seeking more electric-only kilometres.
The update also reintroduces a more affordable Dynamic Standard Range model, while keeping the Premium grade at the top of the range for those wanting all-wheel drive and more performance.

Extended Electric Range
The key change is the new Dynamic Extended Range, which features a larger 26.6kWh battery. BYD claims it can deliver up to 140km of EV-only driving under NEDC testing — a significant jump over the Essential’s 92km range and the Premium’s 81km.
This positions it ahead of models like the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (84km) and Jaecoo J7 SHS (106km), though it still trails the MG HS Super Hybrid (135km) and GWM Haval H6 (180km).
Fuel efficiency is rated at 0.8L/100km on the NEDC cycle when using the battery from 100% down to 20%. Once the battery drops below 25%, fuel consumption rises to 4.8L/100km.

Engine and Performance
The Dynamic Extended Range shares its drivetrain with the Essential: a 72kW 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 145kW electric motor for a combined 160kW output, driving the front wheels. The total petrol-electric driving range is quoted at 1092km (WLTP) with a full battery and fuel tank.
The Premium remains the performance pick, with a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine and dual-motor all-wheel drive setup producing 238kW and 550Nm.
