BYD continues to strengthen its burgeoning EV line-up with the debut of its latest flagship models, the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV. These additions to the Dynasty lineup are aimed at competing in China's premium EV market.
While the exact pricing has not been confirmed, it is expected to start from RMB 300,000 (A$65,700). Further details are expected at a dedicated event in March.
While both models are not currently sold in Australia, BYD has confirmed that a seven-seat SUV will eventually make it way down under, with the Tang L being the only BYD SUV in the current line-up that meets this configuration.

A Shift in Design Philosophy
The Han L and Tang L introduce an evolution in BYD’s signature styling, transitioning from the "Dragon Face" aesthetic to the "Loong Face" design. This change aligns with the Chinese government's efforts to differentiate the mythical Chinese Loong from Western interpretations of dragons.

Han L: A Performance-Driven Sedan
The Han L sedan is larger than its predecessor, offering a more spacious and commanding presence on the road. It will be available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants, continuing the Han family’s dual-powertrain approach.

Width | 1,960 mm | 1,910 mm |
Height | 1,505 mm | 1,495 mm |
Wheelbase | 2,970 mm | 2,920 mm |

For the BEV model, the single-motor variant delivers 500 kW of power, while the dual-motor version pushes performance further with motors rated at 230 kW and 580 kW. Acceleration is equally impressive, with a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 2.7 seconds.
Meanwhile, the PHEV model is built on BYD’s latest DM 5.0 hybrid system. It pairs a 1.5T engine (115 kW peak power) with either a single electric motor (200 kW) or a dual-motor setup (200 kW each). The dual-motor version achieves a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds.
