Zeekr is setting its sights high for its newly launched 7X electric SUV, aiming to move between 400 and 500 units every month in Australia. Starting at $57,900 before on-road costs, the mid-sized EV is already making waves, with more than 500 pre-orders secured before the first deliveries.

Frank Li, managing director of Zeekr Australia, believes the 7X could redefine the brand’s presence locally.

“We’ve had a strong start. Four to five hundred sales a month is achievable,” Li told Drive.

A New Flagship for Zeekr

The 7X is expected to become Zeekr’s top-selling model, outpacing the smaller Zeekr X SUV and the premium 009 people mover. Li says the 7X has “the biggest potential” in the brand’s lineup, noting that Australia is one of only three markets worldwide, alongside Thailand and Mexico, where Zeekr operates a national sales company instead of relying on distributors.

Climbing the EV Sales Charts

Such sales figures would put the 7X in the top five EVs in Australia, overtaking popular models like the Kia EV5, BYD Atto 3, MG 4, and Geely EX5. Only the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, and Tesla Model 3 are expected to stay ahead in 2025.

While the 7X will be the main focus this year, Zeekr is also exploring the introduction of high-performance plug-in hybrid SUVs with outputs up to 1030kW, signalling broader ambitions for the Australian market.
