Chinese EV manufacturer Xpeng is stepping up its presence in the Australian market, with its local distributor, TrueEV, confirming a steady supply of its G6 electric SUV. Starting this August, 1,000 units of the Xpeng G6 will be delivered each month, helping to meet growing interest from local buyers.

According to TrueEV CEO Jason Clarke, this rollout strategy is designed to align with increasing demand for high-tech, mid-sized electric SUVs. “We see this as a moment to show Australians what the next wave of EV technology and design has to offer,” Clarke said.

The Xpeng G6 enters the market as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, undercutting it in price while offering a feature-rich package. Pricing for the G6 starts at $54,800 before on-road costs, with a long-range variant priced from $59,800. Both variants include premium features such as:

  • 20-inch alloy sports wheels
  • Metallic paint as standard
  • Advanced driver-assist technology

This positions the G6 as one of the best-equipped vehicles in its price segment.

Clarke emphasised Xpeng’s strength in software and smart driving technology as a key selling point. “Xpeng isn’t just about affordability, it’s about what future mobility should feel like,” he noted.
