Comments

The Australian distributor for XPENG electric cars TrueEV announced today that it will provide servicing for XPENG G6 owners across Australia via 275+ Utratune locations.

TrueEV said in their press release:

"Ultra Tune technicians are undergoing specialised training to provide expert care for XPENG vehicles from the first day of ownership, giving customers the confidence that their vehicle will be well-maintained wherever they are".

Many in the Australian EV community are not impressed at this choice of service partner by XPENG because Ultratune has a track record of posting anti-Tesla, anti battery electric car and general anti-electric car content on their official social media account as shown in the examples below.

Will Knott, a Moderator for the popular Facebook group Electric Vehicles for Australia commented on the news saying:

"Unfortunate news! 😳 The AU importer/distributor (TruEV) for Xpeng BEVs has today announced its vehicle service partner is Ultratune, the very company that has been posting anti EV social media content for the last couple of years. The Ultratune HQ social media anti EV stance has been commented upon by many members of various BEV groups in Australia, and should be a major red flag to potential new Xpeng buyers in AU."

"Whilst the Xpeng vehicles themselves look to be a very good product, this decision by the local Importer/distributor will cast doubt over what the ongoing ownership experience will be like moving forward".

Hopefully Ultratune can "change it's tune" about EVs because this partnership with XPENG addresses a common concern for EV owners - the availability of qualified technicians country-wide for maintenance and repairs.

The XPENG partnership could indicate that Ultra Tune is shifting its position on EVs, recognizing their growing market presence.

There is an obviously a disconnect between Ultra Tune's business decisions and their public messaging via social media communications in the past.

This inconsistency could raise questions about Ultra Tune's commitment to EV servicing and their overall stance on electric vehicles.

EV enthusiasts and XPENG owners may be skeptical about trusting their vehicles to a company that has previously expressed anti-EV sentiments.

This situation would be cleared up if Ultra Tune addressed their previous Anti EV social media statements and clarified their current position on EVs.

The franchisees who own local Ultratune stores want to stay in business in the future and that requires providing a welcoming atmosphere for ICE, Hybrid and EV owners.
