Sharper, Faster, Lower: Performance Returns
New spy shots reveal the 2025 Model Y Performance testing on one of the world’s most demanding tracks. And if the visuals are anything to go by, this isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade.
- 21-inch Arachnid wheels (borrowed from the Model S Plaid)
- Larger rear lip spoiler
- Lowered ride height
- Likely suspension tweaks for better handling
Tesla’s not officially revealed the specs yet, but this version is clearly built to grip harder, launch quicker, and corner flatter. Expect sub-3.5 second 0–100 km/h times, placing it among the quickest EV SUVs available.

How It Stacks Up: Model Y Lineup in Australia
While we wait for the Performance variant, here's a look at what’s currently on offer:
Variant | Price (Before On-Roads) | 0–100 km/h | Battery Type | Range (WLTP) |
RWD | $58,900 | 5.9 sec | LFP | 466 km |
AWD Long Range | $68,900 | 4.8 sec | NCA | 551 km |
Performance (est.) | ~$80,000 | <3.5 sec | Likely NCA | Likely <551 km |
The RWD variant uses a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, ideal for daily use with 100% charging capability. Meanwhile, the AWD gets a bigger NCA pack, offering a longer range and quicker acceleration.
Expect the Performance to use a similar high-output setup, likely trading some range for raw speed and better dynamics.
