Tesla confirms Roadster production to commence this year

Comments

The highly anticipated Tesla Roadster is inching closer to its reality, with production expected to commence later this year. This electric supercar, first conceptualised in 2017, was expected to revolutionise the EV sports segment with its unparalleled acceleration capabilities.

Despite the initial excitement and the opening of pre-orders, Tesla's attention was diverted to prioritise the production of the Cybertruck, leading to a delay in the Roadster’s development.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has reignited the excitement for the Roadster, proclaiming the design phase is finalised and an official unveiling is slated for later this year, with an anticipated shipping date the following year. Musk’s claims project a sub-one-second 0-60mph (0-97 km/h) acceleration time, suggesting extraordinary performance that outpaces any road-legal production car.

Moreover, Musk has hinted at a potential "SpaceX rocket thruster option package," which could theoretically allow the Roadster to achieve even higher velocity and perhaps some airborne capabilities, truly pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation.

While the initial base model revealed in 2017 boasted impressive stats, including a 0-60mph time of 1.9 seconds and a range of 1000km, the newly refreshed Roadster aims to eclipse these numbers.

For those keen on being among the first to own this ground breaking vehicle, pre-orders have been available, requiring an initial refundable deposit followed by a sizable non-refundable payment. For the most ardent fans, a special Founders' Series version could be reserved at an even higher price point.

The anticipation continues to build as the automotive community eagerly awaits the official reveal of the latest iteration of the Tesla Roadster, set to challenge the definitions of speed and performance in the electric vehicle market.
