Chinese EV powerhouse Xpeng has unveiled the first official images of its upcoming all-new P7 coupe, signalling a bold step forward for the brand’s luxury performance lineup. There is a strong chance it will also hit global right-hand-drive markets, Australia included.
This is the sharpest, most refined iteration of the P7 we’ve seen since its original debut back in 2019. Six years of refinement have gone into shaping this next-gen luxury EV, and while Xpeng hasn’t dropped full specs just yet, what we can see points to a serious contender in the premium electric sedan space.

A sharper, sexier P7, six years in the making
Shared via Xpeng’s official Weibo account, the four released images show off a coupe that’s grown into its own identity. The body is more sculpted, the lines more fluid, and the visual tech cues unmistakably modern.
Exterior design highlights:
- Front end: Full-width LED light bar (à la Xpeng G6), flanked by vertically stacked DRLs that frame the bonnet edges.
- Side profile: Four-door coupe form with hidden flush door handles and integrated side cameras — smart tech wrapped in sleek surfaces.
- Wheels: Stylish 20-inch alloys with bright orange Xpeng-branded brake calipers peeking through.
- Charging port: Located on the right-hand side — the same as current Australian-delivered G6s.
- Rear: Aggressive liftback slope with a sharp full-width tail-light and vertical elements, giving it a serious luxury sports coupe vibe.
In short, the new P7 looks like a ground-up visual reinvention aimed squarely at the likes of the Tesla Model S and BYD Han EV.

Global ambitions: is Australia next?
The new P7 isn’t just a domestic play for Xpeng. With the company aggressively expanding into international markets, including right-hand-drive regions, it’s fair to expect the updated P7 to make a global splash.
Australia is already home to Xpeng’s G6 electric SUV, launched via local distributor True EV in December 2023. And with True EV confirming plans to roll out more Xpeng models locally, the P7 is a strong candidate.
