EXCLUSIVE: Evie Networks has replaced the old failing Tritium PK350 chargers at their busy Avenel (VIC) and Taree (NSW) locations just before the busiest predicted electric car charging days of the year on the 21st and 22nd December 2024.

Both locations were activated in the second half of 2020 and have served the electric vehicle (EV) charging public relatively well until this year when they became increasingly unreliable.

The new charging hardware at Evie Avenel and Evie Taree are new Tritium 150kW units.

As a bonus, the old Tritium PK350 that were removed were incompatible with Evie Autocharge.

The new Evie Avenel and Taree 150kW chargers should work with Evie Autocharge from day 1. Readers are encouraged to try them out and let me know the results.

Geoff Brady, Chief Operating Officer, Evie Networks told me:

"As part of our commitment to enhancing the EV driving experience, we’re upgrading two of our busiest highway charging sites. Our data analysis indicates that the latest 150kW chargers are the optimal choice for these locations and alignment of charging power to real-world usage patterns that we observe on our network."
"This charger refresh ahead of the holiday period reflects our dedication to improving network performance and delivering a dependable service, while continuing to invest in cutting-edge technology to meet the needs of our customers."

I've visited Evie Avenel myself during several Christmas EV road trips as a useful stopover point between Albury and Melbourne.

I haven't been to visit Taree yet but until mid 2024 Evie Taree was the only fast charger option between Karuah and Port Macquarie, then the NSW government subsidised 12 bay open access Tesla Taree charging location opened up to provide competition.
