Electric vehicle drivers across New South Wales are about to get a major boost, with the state government announcing a wave of new fast and ultra-fast chargers set to be installed in 38 suburbs.
Backed by $16.1 million in public funding and topped up with private investment from major players like BP, Tesla, NRMA, and Energy Australia, the total investment comes in at $41.2 million - all aimed at making EV ownership more convenient and practical.

Fast charging where it counts
The 246 new chargers will be rolled out across suburbs ranging from Mascot and Parramatta to Dubbo and Jindabyne, making long-distance travel and daily commutes much easier for EV owners. These fast chargers will get some EVs from 10% to 80% charge in just 10 to 15 minutes.
That’s about the time it takes to grab a coffee and stretch your legs, ideal for drivers covering serious kilometres or needing a top-up between school runs and errands.
And for those towing a trailer, caravan or boat? Pull-through bays are included in many of the sites to accommodate larger setups, addressing a common gripe among regional travellers.

More accessible, more inclusive
Accessibility is also getting an upgrade. Many new charging sites will include features to assist drivers with disabilities, helping ensure that the EV transition is more inclusive for all road users.
The chargers will pop up in locations across metro, regional, and coastal NSW, including:
- Sydney suburbs like Leichhardt, Homebush, Strathfield, and Ashfield
- Coastal towns such as Bega, Jindabyne, and Warrawong
- Regional centres like Dubbo, Mudgee, Singleton, and Queanbeyan
