Denza D9 electric people mover spotted in Melbourne

A camouflaged luxury people mover believed to be the Denza D9 has been spotted on a transporter truck in Melbourne, signalling that Denza’s first electric MPV for Australia is edging closer to launch.

The sighting, captured by a Reddit user and shared with readers of The Driven, shows a heavily wrapped vehicle with badges and most body details concealed. Even so, the proportions, sliding door layout and distinctive rear lip spoiler leave little doubt about its identity.

It looks big. Because it is.

ADR approval confirms Australian arrival

The D9 received Australian regulatory approval in December, and fresh RVD filings confirm that the local line-up will consist of two battery-electric variants: a single-motor front-wheel-drive model and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version.

Interestingly, while global markets including China offer both plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions, the Australian paperwork currently lists the D9 solely as a BEV.

Power outputs listed in earlier approval documents show:

  • Single-motor FWD: 230kW
  • Dual-motor AWD: 275kW

The current Chinese-market electric D9 uses a 103kWh battery pack, delivering an expected WLTP driving range of around 480km, although Australian certification details are yet to be finalised.

Proper luxury MPV proportions

The official ADR dimensions confirm the D9 will be one of the largest passenger vehicles on sale in Australia.

At 5.25 metres long with a 3.11-metre wheelbase, it is longer than many large SUVs and will become the biggest model sold by Denza locally — even eclipsing the B8 SUV.

Here are the confirmed Australian specifications:
