Upgraded battery capacity
The enhanced IONIQ 5's battery capacity has been increased to 84.0 kWh from the original 77.4 kWh, extending its all-electric range.
Design upgrades
Exterior upgrades have honed the IONIQ 5's visual appeal, featuring a sleek V-shape garnish and redesigned bumpers that accentuate the vehicle's broad, SUV-like stance. Despite a 20 mm increase in length, the IONIQ 5's height, width, and substantial wheelbase remain consistent with previous models.
Aerodynamic performance has been improved through an elongated rear spoiler and the introduction of new aerodynamic wheels. Inside, the IONIQ 5 offers a revamped interior centered on user-friendliness and convenience while preserving the comfortable and spacious cabin.
Technology and infotainment upgrades
The centre console now includes tangible buttons for commonly accessed functions and a more ergonomically placed smartphone wireless charging pad.
Innovative updates extend to the steering wheel design, which now comes equipped with interactive pixel lights, and revisions to the controls for the infotainment and air conditioning systems, enhancing user interaction.
Hyundai's progressive connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system provides an enhanced mobile experience, supplemented by the convenience of wireless Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates, guaranteeing the IONIQ 5's electronic systems are always current.
Driver assist and safety upgrades
New safety measures and convenience features such as Hands-On Detection (HOD) steering wheel technology, Lane Keeping Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), and advanced Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist systems elevate the driving experience, prioritizing both safety and ease.
Improved marketability is achieved through the integration of features like Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS), Digital Key 2, Built-In Cam 2, and a function that allows for the remote folding of the second-row seats.
The upgraded IONIQ 5 has also undergone enhancements for safety and ride comfort, with a new shock absorber setup to soften road vibrations, increased cowl crossbar rigidity for reduced steering wheel vibration, and strengthened vehicle body elements to counter low-frequency noise. A quieter rear wheel motor as a result of enhanced sound insulation further improves comfort levels.
Reinforced body parts, the addition of second-row side airbags, and an eight-airbag system build upon the IONIQ 5's robust safety profile.
Introduction of N Line trim
The forthcoming IONIQ 5 N Line caters to enthusiasts seeking a more vigorous aesthetic and dynamic driving experiences. Its unique sporty design includes dedicated bumpers, skirting, and an exclusive set of 20-inch aluminium wheels. Inside, the N Line offers a bespoke cabin with N Line-only features, such as a unique steering wheel, dashboard, metal pedals, sport seats with the N branding, and contrasting red stitching.
Anticipated rollouts for the enhanced IONIQ 5 and the new IONIQ 5 N Line start in March 2024 for Korea, with global market launches scheduled to follow within the year. These upgrades not only reflect Hyundai's commitment to maintaining a cutting-edge EV lineup but also its understanding of evolving customer preferences in the realm of electric mobility.
