MG Motor Australia has unveiled the official pricing and specifications for its latest high-performance all-wheel-drive electric hatchback, the MG4 EV XPOWER with prices starting from just $59,990 AUD before on-road costs.
The new XPOWER variant features a dual motor powertrain that delivers 320 kW of power and up to 600 Nm of torque, resulting in acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. This firmly places the latest MG4 model in the company of the most potent high-performance hatchbacks on the market including the Audi RS3 and Mercedes-Benz AMG A45.
UPDATE 23/10/2023: Due to unprecedented demand for the MG4 X-Power, MG has fast-tracked demonstrators and pre-order vehicles for arrival in the showroom before the end of October 2023.
MG4 XPOWER Key Specs: Range, Charging and Size
The range topping XPOWER is built on the MG4's Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) dedicated EV platform and features an entirely new dual motor setup, delivering up to 320 kW of peak performance to all four wheels—150 kW to the front and 170 kW to the rear.
Underscoring its performance credentials, the new launch control feature allows drivers to experience the full power of the XPOWER by accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds.
Beyond its impressive straight-line performance, the XPOWER incorporates technological enhancements for optimal power distribution and driver engagement during cornering. The all-new Dynamic Cornering Control System, a first for MG, includes a locking electronic differential and Intelligent Motor Control, facilitating torque vectoring among all four wheels to provide maximum traction and exceptional stability in various driving conditions.
Additionally, a comprehensive set of suspension upgrades, including recalibrated spring and damper tuning, stiffer anti-roll bars, and sharper steering, enhances the MG4 XPOWER's handling characteristics, increasing overall suspension stiffness by up to 25%.
The 64 kWh battery provides up to 385km of claimed WLTP range. The battery can also support a maximum charge rate at up to 140 kW, resulting in a quick charge from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes using a 150 kW DC rapid charger. The weight of the additional front motor reduces the range compared to the 64 kWh Essence variant.

These understated exterior design and specification upgrades include eye-catching orange 'XPOWER' brake calipers, a two-tone black roof, newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, polished trim accents, and an exclusive Hunter Green color option. Peter Ciao, CEO of MG Motor Australia and New Zealand, emphasizes that EVs can be exciting, and the MG4 XPOWER is proof that performance can come at an affordable price.

The MG4 XPOWER further enhances its stopping power, reducing the 100-0 km/h stopping distance to an impressive 33.9 meters. This is achieved through upgraded ventilated 345 mm discs on all four corners, coupled with new premium Bridgestone Turanza tires that deliver exceptional grip without sacrificing rolling efficiency.
