Volkswagen has announced that its ID. Buzz electric vehicle line will be available in Australia before the end of 2024. The ID. Buzz Cargo van will start at $79,990, while the ID. Buzz people mover will begin at $87,990.
The ID. Buzz, which has been compared to an electric version of Volkswagen's classic Kombi, is currently in production in Germany.
Surprisingly prices for all the ID.Buzz versions are below Australia's Luxury Car Tax threshold, apart from the range topping Buzz GTX, meaning they are all eligible for the FBT exemption.
- ID. Buzz Cargo: $79,990
- ID. Buzz Pro (five-seater, short wheelbase): $87,990
- ID. Buzz Pro (seven-seater, long wheelbase): $91,290
- ID. Buzz GTX (long wheelbase, all-wheel drive): $109,990
A Volkswagen spokesperson noted that the introduction of the ID. Buzz is relevant for Australian fleet managers in light of the upcoming New Vehicle Efficiency Standard.
Ryan Davies, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, stated that nearly 7,000 potential customers have expressed interest in the vehicle.
The ID. Buzz Pro will be offered in two configurations: a short wheelbase five-seater and a long wheelbase seven-seater. A higher-performance model, the ID. Buzz GTX, is expected to be available in early 2025.
The ID. Buzz Cargo is a three-seat, short wheelbase van designed for commercial use.
