Key Insights

BEV share holds near record territory in July – 18,589 BEVs sold, an 17.9% market share, essentially flat on June's peak (18.0%, which was boosted by EOFY buying). BEV share is up more than threefold year-on-year, from 5.9% in July 2025.

🔌 PHEVs ease off June's EOFY spike but remain up sharply YoY – 10,359 plug-in hybrids sold, up 157.0% year-on-year, though down from June's 16,068 as the pre-financial-year-end rush unwinds. Electrified vehicles (BEV+PHEV+Hybrid) held roughly 46% of the market in July, in line with June.

📉 Market volume steady, mix still shifting fast – Total sales were essentially flat year-on-year (+0.5%), while petrol fell 30.2% and diesel fell 21.6%. Unlike April, where a soft overall market amplified the swing to electric, July's shift is happening inside a stable-sized market — ICE losses are being absorbed almost entirely by BEV and PHEV growth rather than reflecting a broader sales slowdown.
