Pricing for the Kia EV6 GT, the hero model of the EV6 line-up, has been revealed at $99,590 before on-road costs. This is the most expensive car ever offered by Kia across all fuel types. Drive-away prices will range from about $106,000 to $114,000 after government charges and incentives, depending on the state you're in.
Kia EV6 Battery, Range and Performance Specs
Prices for the current Kia EV6 line-up range from $72,590 to $87,690 before on-road costs.
The GT is capable of hitting 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 260km/h, making it one of the fastest cars on Australian roads. By comparison, the Tesla Model Y Performance takes 3.7 seconds to hit 100km/h and has a top speed of 250 km/h. It seems more than a coincidence that the EV6 GT has the Model Y Performance just beat across these two performance benchmarks.
The Hwasung, South Korean-made EV6 carries the same 77.4kWh battery pack as the other variants in the EV6 line-up. The claimed range of 424km is lower than the 484km from the AWD GT-Line. Similar to the other models it features vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability and dual-curved 12.3-inch displays.
What separates the GT is the powertrain, which will feature a 160kW front and 270kW rear electric motor developing a combined 430kW and 740Nm respectively.
Design-wise the GT looks almost identical to the GT-Line trim, differentiated by the fluorescent yellow details scattered throughout: brake calipers, seat stitching, and the GT mode button on the steering wheel.
How Does it Compare To Other EV's?
The EV6's closest competitor is the Tesla Model Y Performance. They are very closely matched across price, performance, and charging. While the Model Y Performance's claimed range is 90 km more, we expect this gap to be smaller in the real-world based on testing we've done on other Tesla and Kia EV models.
We've included other fast EVs such as the Porsche Taycan GTS and Audi e-Tron GT RS to give you an idea of the value the EV6 GT offers. If you're after blazing fast acceleration with the practicalities of an SUV, the EV6 GT offers exceptional value at less than half the price of the Porsche and the Audi.
