Distributor EVDirect has full Australian pricing and features for quirky MG4-rivalling BYD Dolphin electric hatchback.

Priced from $38,890 before on-road costs and state EV incentives, the base Dolphin Dynamic standard range includes:

  • Up to 340km claimed WLTP driving range
  • Standard range 45kWh usable battery pack
  • An electric motor producing 70kW of power and 180Nm of torque
  • Front-wheel-driven and accelerates from 0-100km/h in a gradual 12.3 seconds claimed

It just undercuts the much-anticipated MG 4 electric hatch’s starting price by $100 – but the BYD EV includes more features as standard, such as a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, an energy efficient heat pump, and a full suite of active safety assistance systems – similar to the popular Atto 3 small SUV.

Compared to the GWM Ora, it has a $5100 cheaper entry.

Additionally, the Premium extended range is priced from $44,890 before on-roads with:

  • Up to 427km claimed WLTP range
  • Standard range 60.5kWh usable battery pack
  • Produces 150kW of power and 310Nm of torque
  • Accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds claimed
